So you want to learn how to DJ like Madeon, I don’t blame you. The guy is a beast. He’s been composing songs since the age of 11 and he currently produces music across various electronic dance music sub-genres. To get to Madeon’s level it is going to take a lot of time and effort but if you put in the work you’ll get there before you know it.
Madeon reached international fame thanks to his awesome remixes and mashups. His first viral hit was Pop Culture (see below), which went on to reach over 6 million views on Youtube in only a couple of days. The video featured Madeon live mixing samples from 39 different songs.
After the release of Pop Culture Madeon was on the fast track to becoming a celebrity. His remix of Deadmau5’s Raise Your Weapon was massively popular and he was invited to come on as a guest to Pete Tong’s BBC Radio 1 show. It was on this show, during the 15 Minutes Of Fame segment, that Madeon premiered his debut single Icarus.
Following the success of his mashups and original tracks, several music festivals reached out to Madeon for performances. In 2012 he played at Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Lollapalooza in Chicago, Coachella in California and Electric Daisy Carnival in New York.
Aside from working with other artists in the electronic music field Madeon has collaborated with various successful pop artists. In 2013 he went on tour with Lady Gaga. He served as the opening act during the Born This Way Ball.
Madeon’s music has also been used in soundtracks for television shows and video games. His tracks can be heard on Dancing With The Stars, the 2013 Winter X Games and titles like FIFA and Need For Speed.
If you ask Madeon who his biggest musical influences are, he will tell you Daft Punk and The Beatles. This just goes to show you that he is an artist who truly appreciates and understand music. In order to be like the greats you have to be willing to learn from them.
