The Numark NV Serato DJ controller is a revolutionary product that combines the component quality of devices like the Numark NS6 and the Numark NS7II with two full-color screens. The mid-sized controller is designed around the screens, meaning the jog wheels and performance pads are particularly small but the pitch sliders are really long. In panels above each jogwheel, a screen is angled towards the user.

When reviewing any controller, it is important to consider the mixer’s inputs and outputs. On the Numark NV Serato DJ controller, there are no inputs for record decks or CDJs. The four-channel mixer is designed to be used with software. This means the NV can’t be used with Serato DVS. The only inputs are a twin RCA aux and a mic channel.
As far as outputs, the controller has booth and RCA outs, with two balanced XLRs. The controls on the front are limited to a headphones mix and a split cue, and headphone volume control. These features are located on the right hand side of the NV, while the actual headphone sockets are on the front left.
Although the screens are not retina display, the resolution is great. The purpose of these screens is for performers to be able to DJ without a laptop. With the Numark NV Serato DJ controller, digital DJing is made to look like CDJ DJing. The NV is the first product of its type, and the market is sure to see more like it in the future.
This controller has plenty of features that make it a solid midrange device. The NV comes with touch sensitive knobs, a great crossfader and full Serato feature set. Including the already mentioned revolutionary screens, split cue on the headphones and XLR/booth outputs makes this one of the best products on the market.
Even though the Numark NV Serato DJ controller is not perfect, at $699, the software control is well worth the price.
