Has it happened to you yet? That moment when you’re out a club, or standing in the middle of a crowded festival, or simply sitting in your room listening to your favorite electronic music artist when all of a sudden you look inside your soul and you ask yourself, “Should I learn to DJ EDM?”
Anyone who’s passionate about electronic dance music has had that moment of revelation. It’s like something clicks inside of you. The epiphany you’ve been waiting for your whole life. And yet, for some reason, doubt lingers on inside your head. It’s true, DJing isn’t for everyone. Do you have what it takes?
Picture yourself on stage, in front of a sold out a crowd at a festival you’re headlining. The audience is chanting your name and you’re playing a never before heard original track. Can you handle the pressure? What are you feeling? Is it excitement or anxiety?
Now picture yourself in your room. All of your friends are out partying but you decided to stay in. Again. Another night of practicing your sets, over and over again. Another night of producing music ‘till the sun comes up. Are you bitter? Do you feel like you’re missing out?
If you want to learn to DJ EDM you have to make a commitment. You have to be dedicated. You have to be passionate. A lot of people seem to think that being a DJ is all about just having a good time but you have to realize it’s much more than that. It takes practice and perseverance.
Don’t get me wrong though, DJs do have a good time. A DJ is the life of the party. DJs set the mood and get the people dancing. You’ve got to really love music if you want to make a living out of it.
