So now you’re hooked on the world of DJing. You might have found the inspiration watching your peers, going to festivals or simply through love of the music. No matter how you decided that you wanted to DJ, the next steps begs the question – should I learn to DJ by myself or get help from others?

As a DJ, you’re in control of how and where you learn your skills. A friend is a good source to look to for help. However, if you rely solely on them, you run the risk of learning bad habits and as a result potentially making the same mistakes that they do.

First up, you’ve got to lay down the basics. Mastering the fundamental skills will help you gain the knowledge that you need to be a masterful DJ. There’s a correct way of learning how to mix seamlessly. Sometimes even the most experienced DJ’s develop bad habits and that could be due to an improper development of the fundamentals.
