Traktor DJ For iPhone
Traktor DJ for iPhone is well designed with two touch-sensitive waveform decks divided by a vertical crossfader for mixing. It may not be as good as the iPad version, but at $4.99, it is well worth a download.

When Native Instruments put a version of its software on the iOS platform, many purists argued that no one would ever want to DJ on an iPad. Obviously, this was not true, seeing as Native Instruments recently expanded further into the mobile market with Traktor DJ for iPhone.
The limitations are obvious when it comes to Traktor DJ for iPhone. No matter how well-designed the app may be, the phone’s screen is a set size. This means there is not much room for features and functions. Another limitation is the need to connect the phone to an audio playback source. This is not the app’s fault, however, since Airplay and Bluetooth are simply not instant enough to be used by DJs. In addition, headphone monitoring only works with the use of a mono splitter cable.
That being said, the program is well designed with two touch-sensitive waveform decks divided by a vertical crossfader for mixing. The basic design of Traktor DJ for iPhone is the same as it was on the iPad. Each waveform deck has a loop button, a play/pause button and a freeze button.
This app is a great way for DJs to distract themselves on long road trips or plane rides. Using only their iTunes collection and a pair of earbuds, performers can create, and even record, mixes. For those willing to push the boundaries a bit, Traktor DJ for iPhone could even be used for live sets at small parties or private events.
Traktor’s DJ library displays songs, playlists, artists, albums and genres. Music can be sorted by artist, title or BPM, but not by key. The app lets you make playlists on the go, a feature that is missing from the normal Music app on the iPhone. The best way to access the music library is through the record sleeve icon on the deck the track will be mixed into. This also gives users access to the recommended next tracks function.
It may not be as good as the iPad version, but Traktor DJ for iPhone is a fun app that only costs $4.99.
